Acknowledging the strength of collaboration, the four legal service providers housed in the Telesca Center for Justice embarked on an innovative and collaborative call to increase access to justice for all in our community.

Bonded by the shared belief that legal barriers should never prevent those in our community from achieving their dreams, this collaborative partnership combines the wisdom and expertise of Empire Justice Center, JustCause, the Legal Aid Society of Rochester, and Legal Assistance of Western New York. Together, these partners empower thousands of our neighbors with equal protection before the law each year. Your support of this innovative collaboration ensures access to high-quality, comprehensive legal services for all, regardless of their financial means.

Your support of the Campaign for Justice makes it possible for: 

• Individuals living with serious illnesses to obtain a will, 
• Military veterans to access the benefits they deserve,
• Survivors of domestic violence to secure life-saving orders of protection, 
• Families to access representation when navigating adoption and family court matters, 
• Individuals dealing with financial fraud and illegal collections have access to legal support, 
• and prevent homelessness through foreclosure and eviction prevention

The Campaign also provides funding for the Hanna S. Cohn Equal Justice Fellowship. Hanna Cohn was the architect of the Campaign for Justice and served as the Executive Director of Volunteer Legal Services Project (now JustCause) for almost 20 years until her sudden and untimely death. The Fellowship, largely underwritten by Hanna Cohn’s family and the Hanna S. Cohn Memorial Fund, supports the hiring of a public interest attorney to work at Empire Justice Center.

The Campaign is an extraordinary effort. Its success reflects the generosity of Rochester’s legal community, the partnership and collaboration of Rochester’s civil legal services providers, and the dedication of the Campaign cabinet & volunteers.
